Town worker shot dead in Cordova
CEBU, Philippines - A local government employee was shot dead Saturday evening in Barangay Day-as, Cordova, Cebu.
Noel Pacaldo, 46, resident of Sitio Matab-ang in the same barangay, was having a celebration of their fiesta together with his friends when an unidentified gunman arrived and shot him several times.
Pacaldo, an employee of the municipal government of Cordova, died on the spot while the gunman fled on foot.
The victim and his friends were having a drinking session and videoke outside his house when their celebration was cut short because of the shooting.
Police investigators found six empty shells and two deformed slugs for caliber .45 pistol from the crime scene. The Cordova police are facing a blank wall as to the identity and the motive of the killing.
Meanwhile, two siblings were wounded in another shooting incident in Barangay Kanguha, Dumanjug town last Saturday afternoon.
Florentino Nombre, 28, and his younger brother, Aurelio, 25, of Sitio Kang-aktol in the same barangay, sustained several gunshot wounds in their body after they were fired upon by Marley Alberca while inside a videoke house.
The victims were singing when the suspect arrived and started shooting at them without any provocation.
Initial investigation shows that the families of the victims and the suspect have been harboring personal grudges for a long time. A hot pursuit operation was conducted by the police but the suspect was nowhere to be found. (FREEMAN)
