CEBU, Philippines - A gasoline station lost P16,000 cash to four motorcycle-riding robbers in Barangay Labogon, Mandaue City past midnight yesterday.
The armed robbers, riding two motorcycles, stopped at Petron gas station and carried out the robbery.
Investigation conducted by the police showed that the establishment’s security guard, Mozart Onario, 30, was asleepat his post when the four men arrived.
Two of the robbers who were onboard a Honda Wave motorcycle disembarked and walked towards Onario.
They then aimed a gun at the sleeping guard to wake him up and took his service firearm.
The two other men onboard a Honda XRM motorcycle proceeded towards the cashier’s booth.
One of them was able to get inside the booth since the door was not closed because a steel electric fan was blocking the doorway.
The robber pointed a gun at the establishment’s cashier Samboy Lungtad, 20, who immediately handed over the P16,000 cash proceeds.
The robber also grabbed Lungtad’s backpack with a cellphone charger inside.
After the heist, the four men then sped off towards Barangay Basak.
Lungtad immediately called up Basak Police Station which arranged a road block to supposedly arrest the robbers, but to no avail.
It was further learned during the investigation that Onario, who is connected with T.C.O Security Agency, was made to report for duty even if he did not have a security license.
The police are now conducting a follow-up operation for the possible arrest of the robbers. (FREEMAN)
