CEBU, Philippines - The Department of Science and Technology-7 will launch today the “Science Nation,” a fair aiming to showcase a “transformative” kind of science and technology.
DOST-7 regional director Edilberto Paradela said that the fair will also give recognitions to the region’s own scientists for introducing technologies that are relevant for economic development.
DOST hopes that science and technology would be used by every Filipino to uplift their socio-economic conditions.
“We continue to appeal especially to the media to help us make S&T palatable and appealable to the people,” said Jesus Zamora, Jr., DOST-7 assistant regional director during the AGIO Forum the other day.
The Science and Technology Fair organized by DOST Visayas Cluster will run from October 2 to 4 at J Centre Mall in A.S. Fortuna St., Mandaue City.
“We are inviting the public to come to the exhibit kay mapa-aha gyud mo. This will also showcase on where are we now in terms of Science and Technology,” Zamora added.
Paradela said that aside from the exhibit, various technology forums will be conducted during the three-day event.
Paradela added that their agency has identified the most critical and strategic cutting edge technologies and facilities that the country needs. — (FREEMAN)
