Fiscals elevate to court raps vs terminal exec

Mylen P. Manto - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Prosecutors have filed charges in court against an administrator of the Cebu South Bus Terminal for lascivious acts he allegedly committed against a stall owner there.

Prosecutor 1 Fatima Asjali-Maadil recommended that Vicente Dejoras, Jr. face trial and recommended a bail of P12,000 for his temporary liberty.

“The uncontested evidence of the complainant convinced the undersigned that respondent was prompted with lewd design when he kissed complainant up to her neck and hugged her tight. The hug and the kiss showed the lascivious intent against the complainant,” Asjali-Maadil’s resolution reads.

The complainant had alleged that Dejoras called her on her mobile phone around 6 p.m. on August 8, 2013 and asked her to go to his office otherwise her contract would not be renewed.

There, Dejoras allegedly kissed her neck and when she pushed him away, he allegedly pulled her back by the hand and hugged her tight. The complainant was left with no choice but leave Dejoras’ office.

Asjali-Maadil said the proper case to be filed against Dejoras is acts of lasciviousness.

“...the undersigned finds no concrete evidence on record would show that indeed there was intent to humiliate and vex the complainant. Therefore, the proper offense would be charged is only that acts of lasciviousness,” the resolution reads.

In his counter-affidavit, Dejoras said the accusations against him were lies.

“The allegations against me were all vehemently denied as these are nothing but all lies, concocted by a desperate and an scheming mind in an obvious attempt to harass and hold me hostage in order for me, as administrator of the Cebu South Bus Terminal, to give in to her demands so she may continue to enjoy the unwarranted excesses and perks she had been enjoying as canteen concessioner at the Cebu South Bus Terminal,” the counter-affidavit reads.

Dejoras also said he could not have called the complainant through her mobile phone because he reportedly did not have her number. He said further that whenever he bought food from the complainant’s store at the terminal, it was reportedly the complainant who would volunteer to bring the food to his office and serve it to him.  He asked that the case against him be dismissed.
