CEBU, Philippines - Two men were killed while two others were injured in separate shooting incidents in Cebu City yesterday.

Marlon Cabillon was shot dead at 7 a.m. while sleeping on a bench outside his house in sitio Panaghi-usa, Basak San Nicolas.

Senior Police Officer 4 Rey Cuyos of Homicide Section said an unidentified gunman reportedly approached Cabillon, shot his head and walked away.

Cuyos added that the nearby residents allegedly heard a gunshot at around 7:10 a.m.

Cuyos said they are eyeing illegal drugs and theft as possible angles behind the incident following the disclosure of the victim’s family members.

“Iyang igsuon nagpahibawo nga mogamit siya og drogas. Usahay pud manghilabot kuno ug mangawat. Subayon pa nato kinsa’y nakawatan ani. Ato pa nang gitutokan basin mao ang hinungdan sa pagpamusil,” he said.

The police are further investigating the motive of the attack on the victim and identify the perpetrator.

Meanwhile, an unidentified man was shot dead at around 3 p.m. along L. Flores Street, Barangay Pasil while two nearby residents were also injured during the shooting incident.

Senior Police Officer 1 Romel Bancog of Homicide Section said the identity of the victim is still unknown since the residents in the area do not recognize him.

There were also no documents found from the victim that could support his identity.

The two injured victims were Jovencio Betco, 50, and Catherine Pitallar, 45 who were reportedly passing by the area when the incident took place.

Bancog said the victim was shot to the back and the bullet was stuck in his mouth.

An empty shell of a cal. 45 pistol was recovered by the police from the crime scene.

The cadaver was brought to the Cebu Memorial Funeral Homes in Pasil. — (FREEMAN)
