Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines -  A call center agent who checked in at a beach resort in Barangay Saavedra, Moalboal town yesterday morning to celebrate a friend’s birthday drowned.

Felix Paul Alquisala, 22, of Liloan town was pronounced dead after rescuers brought his body out of sea.

Police Officer 1 Jennis Lamosao said Alquisala ang his friends checked in at White Beach, a local resort in Moalboal on Friday night and decided to hit the beach at past 6 a.m. yesterday.

Because Alquisala reportedly did not know how to swim, he chose to stay at the shallow portion of the sea but his friend were surprised later that he was being carried away by the current.

Alquisala’s friends reportedly tried to rescue the victim but failed.

“Dili kahibawo nga molangoy si Alquisala, kusog ang sulog kay walay undang ang ulan, wala gyud to sila ga-expect sa sulog sa lugar,” Lamosao said.

Lamosao said it rained nonstop in Moalboal town for the past few days and the group was not familiar with the place.

Alquisala’s dead body was taken to the St. Peter Funeral Homes in Moalboal town. (FREEMAN)
