Madrigal not quitting work
CEBU, Philippines - The Capitol’s Anti-illegal Fishing Task Force Head Loy Anthony Madrigal said he is not cowered by death threat and would continue performing his functions.
He said this after revealing that he received information last Sunday that ‘somebody’ from northern Cebu is planning to kill him because of his anti-illegal fishing campaign.
Madrigal said that whether the threat was true or not, it would not impede his operations against illegal fishing activities in the province.
He said he was told a “hitman” was initially paid P.5 million for his death. He forwarded the information to the Provincial Information Office, which relayed it to the media yesterday.
In an interview, Madrigal said he already has someone in mind as the one behind the threat.
“He is capable of doing that. Kabalo ko siya. Di sa lang ko kaingon kun kinsa, (I know it was him. I just cannot divulge who he is it yet),” he told The FREEMAN.
He said it was not the first time that he received a death threat, adding that he would just be vigilant during his operations.
Operations against illegal fishing activities, Madrigal said, would still be intensified despite the risks and threats to his life. (FREEMAN)
