'Robber' falls with gun, shabu packs

CEBU, Philippines - An alleged robber and carnapper was arrested by police in Barangay Yati, Liloan yesterday.

Suspect Rodolfo "Bulldog" Caparoso, Jr., 30, was arrested at 4:45 pm, about two hours after he and some companions reportedly robbed Rose Pharmacy in the nearby Barangay Pitogo, Consolacion.

Liloan and Consolacion police, in a joint operation, proceeded to Barangay Yati after receiving a report of an armed person, who was later identified as Caparoso.

"Naa'y nakakita niya nga gahigda-higda gawas sa balay sa ilang silingan nga naay dala pusil and considering his background, naka-ingun mi nga basin og connected ni siya sa robbery sa Rose Pharmacy," said Liloan Police chief Senior Inspector Ramil Morpos.

Morpos said they caught the suspect in the act of sniffing shabu and eventually arrested him. Caparoso tried to escape but he was cornered by the police.

Seized from the suspect were seized with a cal. 357 magnum revolver with five live ammunition and two packs of suspected shabu.

Caparoso reportedly served as the lookout during the robbery, said Morpos.

"Naa sab mi-kompirmar nga witness nga apil gyud siya sa tulis kagahapon," said Morpos.

The police chief said they have been receiving reports on robbery as well as carnapping incidents involving Caparoso.

He said Caparoso was also suspect of a carnapping incident victimizing Councilor Renato Yuson, Jr. of Barangay Ibabao, Mandaue City last July. He escaped then from responding policemen.

"It was verified nga siya g'yud kay nakita man g'yud namo ang ID (identification card) and driver's license sa councilor and ang registration sa motor. Naa sab mi nakita-an nga part sa motor adto sa ila," said Morpos.

The suspect is now detained at Liloan Police Station. — (FREEMAN)
