CSC-7 gets DOH’s “Red Orchid Award”

CEBU, Philippines - The Civil Service Commission-7 bagged this year’s “Red Orchid Award”, the highest distinction given by the Department of Health to recognize the implementation of a tobacco-free environment.

The CSC-7, which joined the search for the first time, is the only government agency in the region that was given such award aside from government hospitals in Central Visayas.

The search pushes for health development by achieving a 100 percent tobacco-free environment in government hospitals, government offices and local government units.

CSC-7 regional director Karin Litz Zerna, said in an official statement that their agency garnered a total score of 92 percent on the DOH’s set of criteria on the strength of comprehensive efforts to implement a 100 percent tobacco-free environment, that goes through self-assessment and validation procedures following the World Health Organization’s MPOWER framework.

Meanwhile, in line with the observance of the 114th Philippine Civil Service anniversary, various activities in partnership with the different agencies of the government are already lined-up, including the 2014 Government Choral Competition.

CSC-7 said that those who want to join must accomplish and submit the registration form and other details such as the list of singers, conductor and accompanist, among others to their office until July 25, 2014.

This year’s theme of the event is, “Tapat sa serbisyo alay ko. Dahil lingkod bayani ako”.  (FREEMAN)
