Samboan has new birthing center

CEBU, Philippines - So that pregnant women will not have to worry about the cost of giving birth, Samboan town opened recently its P3-million birthing center.

Samboan Mayor Raymond Joseph Calderon said that the birthing center, which was built right next to the health center, is the first in the town.

The P3 million budget was funded by the Department of Health and Cebu Provincial government.

The Capitol also provided the center’s equipment while the local government provided the lot for the new facility.

Calderon said they have thought of constructing a separate birthing center, as the one they have inside the health center is already congested.

â€œWe are now accommodating patients at our new birthing center,” the mayor announced.

Governor Hilario P. Davide III, Vice Governor Agnes Magpale and Provincial Board Members Peter John Calderon and Christopher Barricuatro led the ceremonial ribbon-cutting last June 10.

Meanwhile, Davide also bestowed a P2.5 million funding for the town’s road projects and P100,000 financial aid to Samboan’s 15 barangays.

The office of Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale also granted P 25,000 aid for the barangays’ socio-cultural activities.  (FREEMAN)
