As VECO removes poles, Power outage in portions of Talamban looms

CEBU, Philippines - The Visayan Electric Company on Tuesday will remove two of their electrical poles that are affected by the road widening near a bridge in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.

VECO spokesperson Theresa Sederiosa said the public may expect at least eight hours of power outage within the area when the actual removal and transfer of the poles is carried out.

According to VECO, the areas that may be affected by power outage on June 24 and 25 include portion of Barangay Talamban, Cebu City, as well as A. Borbajo Street, Ligaya Town Homes, Leysonville Subdivision, Citadella Subdivision, Hidden Plains Subdivision, Cristal Trade Ventures Inc. and Exeland Inc.

Other areas that may also be affected are Little Servants of Christ the king, Piccole Ancelle di Cristo Orphanage and SOS Children Village International.

 Earlier, Fernando Cruz, district engineer of the Department of Public Works and Highways-Cebu District Engineering Office, lamented over VECO's inaction on their letter-request.

Cruz said they cannot finish the project yet as VECO has not moved their poles.

"Schedule of removal is this coming Tuesday," said Sederiosa.

The Canduman bridge is situated at the boundary of Cebu City and Mandaue City.

Sederiosa added that they still have to check on their records as to the location of their other electrical posts that are affected by DPWH's ongoing infrastructure projects in the city. — (FREEMAN)
