Tremor rocks Bohol, Cebu

CEBU, Philippines - The Philippine Institute of  Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a magnitude 3.5 quake in Bohol at 6:46 a.m. yesterday.

Phivolcs located the epicenter at 10.01°N, 124.13°E - 007 km S 11° E of the town of Buenavista. Phivolcs said the quake has 008 depth of focus and tectonic in origin.

The tremor also jolted Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, and Talibon, Bohol at intensity II. Sagbayan, Bohol experienced intensity three while Buenavista town experienced intensity four.

No damage reported.

Last Thursday, a magnitude 3.3 earthquake also jolted Buenavista town but was not felt in Cebu and in neighboring places.

Phivolcs said the quake was tectonic in origin and has 005 km depth of focus. No damage was also recorded on that day. —/JMO (FREEMAN)
