7 police offices, 1 unit pass 4th phase of certification

CEBU, Philippines - Seven police offices and a police unit in the Central Visayas passed the fourth phase of the Philippine National Police-Unit Certification and Performance Governance Reporting tests last week.

Chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo, chairman of the Technical Working Group-PNP Patrol Plan 2030, said he was satisfied with the presentations of the police offices in the region. These include the police offices in Cebu Province, Cebu City, Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, Bohol and the Regional Public Safety Battalion.

“So far, sa presentation nila, okay naman wala naman akong nakitang mali pero may kailangan i-improve pa rin,” Garbo said.

All city directors and provincial directors, as well as the RPSB commander, presented their individual accomplishments and target settings to Garbo before the reports will be presented to higher headquarters.

Garbo warned that those who will fail the PGS presentation will be relieved immediately, just like what happened to two officers in Luzon.

Last March, former Police Regional Office-7 director, Chief Supt. Danilo Constantino, advised Cebu City Police Office director Noli Romana to improve his presentation for PGS.

Constantino said he is hopeful that the presentation of the CCPO director would be developed further so it can earn a higher PGS rating.

Camp Crame earlier gave a Golden Eagle Award to PRO-7 for being a top notch office in the PGS with a total score of 98.13 percent overall rating. The Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, also earned a Silver Eagle Award with an overall rating of 95 percent.

It is precisely because of these achievements that Constantino said he does not want Romana to fail in his presentation. He said it is possible that a police chief can be relieved of his post if he fails twice.

The PGS presentation of a police chief would determine if he has implemented his projects and reached his goals as commander of a police office.

PRO-7 currently holds the record for earning the highest rating a police regional office could attain. (FREEMAN)
