CEBU, Philippines - Police have arrested three people, one of whom was a policeman, for illegal possession of firearms in two operations Friday.
The first arrest happened at past 4 p.m. after a resident of Barangay Busay, Cebu City a certain Bryan Cadotdot, reported to the police through the 166 hotline that a man with a firearm was driving a car in the area.
In coordination with the Special Weapons and Tactics members of the Mobile Patrol Group responded to the area and intercepted a black Toyota Camry with plate number DDI 88 at the corner of Plaza Housing in Barangay Busay.
The driver, identified later as Kim Boseok, 22, was asked to disembark the vehicle and he did so with a white paper bag in hand. Upon inspection, authorities found a .38 cal. revolver and 12 ammunitions inside the paper bag.
Kim is currently detained at the Mabolo Police Station pending the filing of charges against him for violating the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunitions.
In Barangay Punta Princesa, police arrested one Kenner Rodriguez, 21, and a policeman, Police Officer 2 Ronelo Manuel, 31, who were found with firearms and drug paraphernalia.
The team of Senior Inspector Michaelangelo Beltran, the station commander, conducted a saturation drive in Sitio Tuburan when they chanced upon Rodriguez.
They confiscated from him a . 357 cal. revolver with three live ammunitions and a .38 cal. revolver without ammunition. Meanwhile, they recovered six live ammunitions of a .45 cal. and four live ammunitions of a .38 cal. revolver and drug paraphernalia from Manuel’s possession.
As of yesterday, it was unclear whether Manuel is in active service and whether or not he was on duty when arrested.
Both suspects are detained at the Punta Princesa Police Station for the filing of charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and of the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunitions. (FREEMAN)
