CEBU, Philippines - Three persons died and another was injured in separate vehicular accidents in the towns of Liloan, Sibonga and Barili.
In Liloan, an elderly woman was declared dead on arrival at the hospital after the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a car on the national road of Bahak, Barangay Poblacion past 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Police investigation revealed that the Honda motorcycle (6344TX) driven by Jhony Baguio, together with his wife, Criselda, 41, both from Barangay Tayud, were traveling toward east when a Kia Sportage (YCR 354) driven by Ildefonso Pilapil of Barangay Poblacion suddenly executed a U-turn hitting the motorcycle.
Both victims were rushed to the Mendero Clinic in Consolacion town before they were referred to the Velez Hospital in Cebu City. Criselda, however, did not make it there alive.
Families of the victims refused to file charges against Pilapil who assured to shoulder all expenses of the victims.
In Sibonga, another motorcycle driver died after he hit and bumped to a parked ten-wheeler truck on the national highway of Barangay Abugon around 2 a.m. Thursday.
Rolando Tampos, 48, of Barangay Candaguit was driving his MSX 125 motorcycle (4391 PF) bound for Carcar City from Argao town when he hit and bumped the rear portion of the Fuso truck (GXN 907) driven by Velardo Corsama, 34, of Mabinay, Negros Oriental.
The truck was parked along the road as it had some mechanical problem. It was, however, put into hazard signal.
Due to the strong impact, Tampos was thrown off on the road causing him severe injuries in the body. He was rushed to the Carcar District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Corsama tried to elude arrest but he was arrested by the Traffic Management Unit in Mandaue City through the effort of Jerry Caballes who saw the incident. He was then turned over to the Sibonga police for filing of appropriate charges.
In Barili, a 36-year-old man also died after he side-swept to a parked trisikad on the provincial road in Sitio Cantabo, Barangay Gunting around 6:45 a.m. Friday.
Olympio Montemayor Bayogo Jr., 36, of the said barangay, was heading to Barangay Poblacion in a zigzag manner and at a high speed when he hit the trisikad. Bayogo was dragged on the road pavement causing him injuries.
Victim was rushed to Barili District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. (FREEMAN)
