3 military men nabbed for threat, drunkenness
CEBU, Philippines - Three members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines were arrested by the police after one of them was accused of pointing a gun at a security guard of a club along Mango Avenue yesterday dawn.Private first class Leand Bryce Aujero, 26, Lovey dela Cruz, 24, and Aljun Diocana, 29, all assigned at the Central Command, were reportedly very drunk when arrested by the joint operatives of the Fuente Police Station and the Special Weapons and Tactics.
Aujero, who is detailed at the Intelligence Service Unit, was accused by security guard Garido Ampong, 46, of pointing a gun at him. The two other military men were also said to be unruly while inside the bar.According to Ampong, the three suspects entered the bar at 2 a.m. and were already very drunk. Ampong said he conducted a routine inspection on the suspects before they were allowed to enter the bar but Aujero got irked and pulled his .45 caliber pistol.The security guard said he ran for cover and immediately called for police assistance.Beat patrol policemen from Fuente Police Station responded together with SWAT personnel and arrested the suspects.Lt. Jim Alagao, AFP Central Command spokesperson, said that an investigation will be conducted against the three military men to determine their administrative liability.Centcom will check whether the gun was brought by Aujero on an official trip. They will look into his record if he was on duty when the incident happened. Aujero could face dismissal from service or demotion to the next lower rank if found guilty. While the two other suspects will face a charge of ungentlemanly conduct which carries a penalty of suspension or reduction of their respective allowances.Alagao said the suspects will also be placed under camp restriction pending the administrative investigation. Sr. Insp. David Señor said that the Aujero will be facing a criminal complaint for grave threats and violation of City Ordinance 1929 or drunkenness while dela Cruz and Diocana will only face drunkenness.
