8 houses hit by fire

CEBU, Philippines - Six houses were burned down while two other houses were damaged partially after a fire hit Barangay Agujo in Daanbantayan town past 8 a.m. Saturday.

The houses that were destroyed were owned by Albert Illustrisimo Sr.; Pedro Illustrisimo; Alvin Illustrisimo, Patricio Arcenal; Cheryl Compuesto; and Gorgonio Sontousidad. The houses burned partially are those of Beltran Arriesgado and Milagros Compuesto.

Initial investigation revealed that the fire originated from Albert’s house and started when his two-year-old son was playing with a disposable lighter inside the house.

Police said the affected houses were made of light materials and galvanized iron roofs. Damage was estimated to reach P100,000.   (FREEMAN)
