CEBU, Philippines - A suspected drug pusher eluded arrest but two of his cohorts were arrested Friday during a buy-bust operation conducted by the City Anti Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group (CAIDSOTG) in Sitio Cahipa, Barangay Hipodromo, Cebu City.
CAIDSOTG operatives, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-7, carried out the operation at 1:15 a.m. against Marcelo “Yamwie†Rivera.
CAIDSOTG chief Eunil Avergonzado said Rivera personally handed one small plastic pack of shabu worth P200 to an undercover policeman. However, before the policeman could announce an arrest, Rivera managed to escape.
However, Rivera’s brother, Jordan and Rene Daub, 33, were arrested during the operation.
Two medium packs and six small plastic packs of shabu, four packs of transparent plastic bag, and one weighing scale were seized from Jordan’s possession.
A green disposable lighter, two strips of aluminum tin foil, and one rolled tissue paper were confiscated from Daub.
The suspects are now temporarily detained at the Cebu City Police Office while the evidence seized from them were turned over to the PNP Crime Laboratory Office for examination.
The arrested suspects will be facing criminal complaints for violation of the Republic Act 1965, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (FREEMAN)
