Weekend hacking, stabbing hurt electrician, guard, one other

CEBU, Philippines - An electrician has sustained a huge laceration on his left hand after he was hacked by a passerby using a bolo without apparent reason in Sitio Lourdes, Barangay Cogon-Pardo, Cebu City last Saturday morning.

Both of Vill Esmaela in Sitio Lourdes, Allen Gasalatan, 30, allegedly appeared from behind of the 43-year-old victim Gaspar Amores who was walking towards his house at around 8:40 a.m.

According to the victim, Gasalatan hit him with a bolo and was supposed to continue hacking him but was stopped by the people nearby.

Amores was then rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center while Gasalatan was able to run away and escape.

Prior the incident, Amores was reportedly with the 14-year-old daughter of his boss when they passed by Gasalatan fixing a motorcycle and revving the engine.

“Ayaw sige og pabulhot sa aso kay mahugaw ang bata,” the police quoted the victim saying to the suspect which might have irked the latter.

A 22-year-old man also sustained multiple stabbed wounds on the different parts of his body after being stabbed several times at 4:30 p.m. in Sitio Sangi, Barangay Basak-San Nicholas, Cebu City.

Joemar Lumapguid was taking a nap on a bamboo bed when he was stabbed by Client Labasan using a sharp-pointed instrument.

The victim immediately ran and headed towards his aunt’s house for help. While the suspect was arrested by the responding police and was turned over to Mambaling Police Station.

On the same day, Eugenio Cruz, a hotel security guard, was attacked by an unidentified man armed with a sharp-pointed instrument while walking along the SM parking lot at around 7:45 in the evening.

The victim was stabbed in his nape and was confined at Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center while the suspect fled.— /GMR (FREEMAN)
