CEBU, Philippines - The Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group filed criminal complaints yesterday before the Office of the Prosecutor against a former barangay councilman of Mandaue City.
Senior Inspector Hendrix Bancoleta, who led the operation, told The FREEMAN that they filed charges for illegal possession of drugs, illegal possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal selling of shabu against Jonathan Dichos.
Dichos, 35, a resident of Paknaan, Mandaue City, was arrested last Wednesday through a buy-bust operation conducted by the RAIDSOTG in Barangay Carretta, Cebu City.
After the transaction, police officers then arrested Dichos and recovered from his possession several packs of shabu estimated to cost P30,000.
Apart from that, police also recovered from Dichos a weighing scale, a cellular phone, P1,500 in cash, P500 marked money and a motorcycle.
According to Bancoleta, prior to the arrest, they received information about the illegal activity of Dichos and immediately conducted a surveillance operation.
Bancoleta added that Dichos operated in Mandaue City and Cebu City.
Dichos denied the allegation, claiming that the operation was a setup.
He added that he was not into illegal drug trade.— (FREEMAN)
