Anti-cybercrime operations lead to arrest of “drug pusher”

CEBU, Philippines - An alleged level two drug pusher was arrested by the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force in a buy-bust operation in Cordova town yesterday morning.

The police identified the suspect as Gino Pilapil, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Cordova, who sold a pack of suspected shabu in exchange of P200 to a police poseur-buyer.

SPO4 Honorato Tano said Pilapil’s name came up in their reports after cybercrime operations in the town were revealed.

Tano explained that someone tipped them that Pilapil is selling illegal drugs in the area, which prompted them conduct the operation.

The law enforcers have also received tips from the local officials of the suspect’s illegal operations.

Recovered from Pilapil was the P200 buy-bust money, one big pack and 16 small packs of white crystalline substance believed to be shabu.

Tano said that they have placed Pilapil under surveillance twice already.

Tano added that Pilapil can dispose of 200 grams per week and his customers are mostly from Cordova.

But he said that Pilapil is just a newbie in the illegal activity and that he reportedly belongs to a group.

Tano also said that Pilapil’s source of drugs does not come from Cordova.

Pilapil denied the allegations and said he will invoke his right to remain silent. — (FREEMAN)
