After shooting incident: Policeman surrenders son

CEBU, Philippines - A police officer surrendered his 17-year-old son to the police for allegedly being involved in a shooting incident.

SPO4 Samuel Pogoy of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office accompanied his son, John Niño Pogoy, to the Carbon Police Station after the younger Pogoy was identified as one of the suspects who gunned down two men earlier in the day during a benefit dance.

Another 17-year-old, Lourd Hexon Nodalo, was also implicated in the crime.

Based on the accounts of witnesses to the police, the victims, Ronnel Seraga and Johanni Celerio, were attending a benefit dance when an unidentified man approached and informed them that John Niño and Nodalo wanted to speak with them.

According to the witnesses, the suspects who were allegedly armed with an undetermined caliber of firearm suddenly shot Seraga.

Seraga was hit on his head while Celerio who was dancing nearby was hit on her foot.

The victims were immediately brought to the hospital while the suspects took off. However, John Niño later on surrendered to the police accompanied by his father.

Another surrender

Meanwhile, a man surrendered to the Pahina-Central Barangay Hall after he stabbed two men in separate incidents.

Clark Dexter Parba, allegedly stabbed first a jeepney dispatcher along Colon Street in Barangay Kalubihan, Cebu City last Friday morning.

Based on police investigation, Andy del Puerto, 41, was calling for passengers along Colon Street when the suspect suddenly appeared and approached the victim.

SPO1 Ruth Bongo-Violango said that the suspect angrily told Del Puerto that he was not allowed to call for passengers in the area since a certain “Arnel” restricted them to do so.

The confrontation resulted into a heated argument and the suspect pulled out a knife and allegedly stabbed Del Puerto several times, said Bongo-Violango.

Del Puerto was immediately rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center while Parba managed to escape.

Several hours later, Parba reportedly surrendered at the Pahina-Central Barangay Hall after he allegedly stabbed another man along Panganiban Street.

The second victim, 21-year-old Christopher Adaro, sustained a stab wound on the back part of his neck.

Violango said they got a call from the barangay hall, informing them that their barangay tanods had with them Parba and were on their way to police headquarters.

Violango further said that before the suspect was turned over to the police, Parba was brought by the barangay tanods to the hospital to let Adaro identify him as the one who stabbed him. The victim confirmed the identity of the suspect.
