Traysikad driver stabbed in Talisay

CEBU, Philippines - A traysikad driver was stabbed to death by his neighbor past 6 p.m. last Monday evening in Barangay Poblacion, Talisay City.

The police identified the victim as Rodrigo Pansoy, 25, a resident of the said barangay who was reportedly sitting in his traysikad parked outside his house when the suspect approached and stabbed him, said PO1 Emmanuel Deluvio, desk officer of Talisay City Police Station in a phone interview with The Freeman.

According to Deluvio, the suspect was identified as Edward Paran, 21, also a resident of the barangay who was arrested by responding police officers in a follow-up operation.

Recovered from the suspect's possession was a 12-inch knife he reportedly used to stab the victim.

Pansoy succumbed to stab wounds on his left armpit and was brought to the Talisay City District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, two people died in a vehicular accident in Barangay Dawis Sur, Carmen around 3:00 a.m. yesterday morning.

In a telephone interview with The FREEMAN SPO2 Simplicio Gibo, desk officer, said that Allan Flores, 37, driver, and Jeramie Camanse, 20, backrider,  both from Poblacion, Danao City died from the accident.

Gibo said that Flores was driving a Honda XRM 125 when the accident happened. He said that the motorcycle swerved and then it hit the Indian tree nearby.

"Nagdagan ang motor, ni-swerve nabangga sa Indian tree," he said.

He said that Flores and Camanse were brought to Danao Provincial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physicians.

He said that concerned citizens who happened to pass by reported the accident that prompted them to verify the report.  (FREEMAN)
