Naming of CPPO into Camp Maxilom gets support

CEBU, Philippines - Tuburan town Mayor Democrito “Aljun” Diamante Jr. has expressed  his all out support to the plan of the Cebu Provincial Police Office in naming the headquarters as Camp General Arcadio Maxilom.

Diamante has even asked his councilors to make a Sangguniang Bayan (SB) resolution supporting the plan of CPPO Director, Sr. Supt. Noel Gillamac.

“Ako nay bahala ana nga muhatod ngadto personally sa Provincial Capitol aron ma-realize na,” Diamante told The FREEMAN.

He said that once the plan will be realized, he will give a commendation  to Gillamac for recognizing Maxilom as a pure Cebuano hero.

“Cebuano na nga nakigbisog para sa atong kagawasan unya I know nga daghang malipay nga mga kaparyentihan ni Maxilom sa among lungsod,” he said in a phone interview.

Gillamac said that aside from renaming the CPPO headquarters, he is also planning to put up a bust or statue of Maxilom in the building.

“Maghatag na man lang ta ug honor, we also have to make sure nga worth it kay I want it done with quality, dili lang mangahup-ak ang nawong sa kadugay,”Gillamac said.

Gillamac already sent a letter last November  to the Office of Governor Hilario Davide III and to the Office of Vice-Governor Agnes Magpale for them to ask the Provincial Board members to pass a resolution supporting his plan.

He also sent a letter to the Directorate for Planning in Camp Crame but no feedback yet.

Aside from being a native of Tuburan town, Gillamac said that Maxilom contributed a lot during the Philippine Revolution together  with Leon Kilat who was also a leader of the Katipunan in the highlands of Cebu.

Maxilom died in his hometown in Tuburan after being paralytic for a long time.

“Despite his heroism, only a few people remember him and what they can associate with him is only the Gen. Maxilom Ave.,” Gillamac said.

Gillamac said that it will also help the public know of a specific name of the headquarters like that of the Camp Sotero Cabahug (Cebu City Police Office) in Gorordo Avenue as it is the only headquarters without a name. (FREEMAN)
