CEBU, Philippines - The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has set two deadlines every month for the employers to remit premium contributions of their employees.
In a press statement, PhilHealth said that in order to avoid long queues during deadlines, employers with PhilHealth Employer Number (PEN) ending in zero to four shall now remit the contribution of their employees for the month of March 2014 between the 11th and the 15th day of April this year.
While employers with PENs ending in five to nine shall pay between the 16th and the 20th day of April.
Circular 01-2014, the PEN issued to every registered employer – proprietor, business entity, government agency, among others – will be the basis for the deadline of payment starting with contributions for the month of March 2014.
PhilHealth said that currently, employers are required to remit the monthly contributions of their employees on or before the 10th day of the following applicable month, and submission of remittance reports on or before the 15th.
Remittance reports shall be submitted within five days after payment is made, it said.
Consistent with Circular 27-2010, should the due date fall on a weekend or a holiday, payment and submission of remittance reports shall be made on the next working day.
Payments may be made at any PhilHealth offices or through any accredited collecting banks. Employers who have accounts with the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) may remit premiums online through the bank’s Express Link facility.
PhilHealth also reminded employers to pay on time to avoid the two percent monthly interest on late premium payments. (FREEMAN)
