CEBU, Philippines - A drunk security guard is in a critical condition after he jumpen off a building trying to evade arrest from police officers around 9:00 p.m. Saturday night.
Homicide section investigators identified him as Ben Selgas of Golden Dragon Sun Security Agency, a stay-in security guard assigned at Cebu Port Authority.
Police received information of a man brandishing his firearm earlier that night near Maritima Building, Barangay Sto. Niño in Cebu City.
Patrol cars and personnel from Special Weapons and Tactics responded to the alarm.
Upon reaching Maritima Building, they saw a man brandishing a 12-gauge shotgun who hurriedly run inside the building.
Police officers quickly ran after him upon seeing that he went inside the building carrying a shotgun.
PO2 Domingo Cabuenas, PO2 Eric Saavedra SWAT personnel led by PO2 Bradford Labandero cornered the suspect inside the building.
PO1 John Erric Samosa of the Homicide Section told The FREEMAN that after seeing that Selgas was cornered, the security guard jumped off the three-story building to evade arrest.
Selgas suffered severe injuries in his head and in the different parts of his body after he fell to the ground.
The police brought Selgas to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center for immediate treatment.
Samosa said that the victim is in a critical condition and had to use an ambu bag to help him breath.
Police officers confiscated two 12-gauge shot-gun from the on-duty security guard Roque Abella of Golden Dragon Sun Security Agency.
Police investigation revealed that both Selgas and Abella were drinking before the incident happened.
When Selgas was drunk, he brought with him his issued 12-gauge shot-gun outside the Maritima Building which prompted a caller to report him for brandishing his gun.
Selgas was off-duty while Abella was on-duty when the incident happened.
The confiscated firearms were turned over to SPO3 Samuel Negro, property custodian of Waterfront Police Station. — (FREEMAN)
