CEBU, Philippines - The Publisher’s Association of the Philippines, Inc. (PAPI) has expanded its membership by establishing a chapter in Cebu.
The PAPI Cebu chapter is set to hold its formal installation and induction of first set of officers at 6:30 tonight at the Sacred Heart Center, Cebu City.
PAPI national president Luis Arriola will administer the oath of officers led by chapter president, Engr. Greg S. Senining.
Other officers are vice president Sam Costanilla, secretary Jun Basadre, treasurer Loy Jurado, auditor Wen Celen.
The board of directors are Max Andrino, Sonny Gabiana, Efren Lonzon, Andy Manatad, Gregg Rubio, Dr. Paulus Mariae Cañete, Daday Melgar and Pepe Sollano.
Lawyers Raymond Alvin Garcia and James Lovedica are also directors for legal matters.
Manatad, who is also the national vice president for the Visayas said that PAPI has expanded its membership to the inclusion of TV hosts, radio news analyst cum commentators, newspaper and magazine columnists, editors and writers and all other broadcast and print journalist.
Senining also said that PAPI Cebu chapter will try to help local journalists help themselves improve further in their chosen profession and advocacy as purveyors of truth and information that is of interest and of greater good to the greater number of people.
PAPI founding chairman Johnny Dayang and Arriola both expressed confidence in the skills of its new chapter to carry out its vision and mission to be partners of the government and all sectors of society toward national development.— /GMR (FREEMAN)
