CEBU, Philippines - Fire victims in sitio Warwick Barracks, Barangay Ermita, Cebu City have been getting food provisions from the Cebu City government.
Engr. Eugine Elizalde, Cebu City Administrator, said the giving of basic services to the victims such as feeding had started last Saturday.
For the first three days, the city government has been doing the evaluation on the area and today, all concerned officials will all be having a meeting.
Meanwhile, the clearing operation in the area would starts today as equipments were still pulled out from Barangay Carreta which was also hit by fire last month, said Jose Marie Poblete, officer-in-charge of the Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW).
Poblete said that the clearing operations would possibly last for three days depending on the structures.
Elizalde said that place is a commercial area as also confirmed by Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella who said that the market is for commercial use only.
However, Elizalde said they do not have yet any final decision on the matter.
Ermita barangay captain Felicisimo Rupinta will work hand in hand with the city.
Earlier, Rupinta said the barangay sets aside P100,000 of its fund.
Presently, the affected families are temporarily staying at Ermita Sports Complex. (FREEMAN)
