CEBU, Philippines - Three schools in Cebu City destroyed by the 7.2-magnitude earthquake last October are not yet done with the repair.

These schools are Don Carlos Gothong Memorial National High School, Labangon Elementary School, and Tejero Elementary School.

Cebu City schools division superintendent Dr. Rhea Mar Angtud said the repair is still being done.

"Ang ongoing nato karon kay kato ra man grabe-grabe (ang damage)," said Angtud.

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama ordered the local school board to complete all the repairs supposedly in December last year.

Angtud said those schools with minor damage were already repaired in December. The repair costs P30 million.

Earlier, Angtud said only 15 percent of the total 531 identified classrooms need major repairs.

Councilor Noel Wenceslao said the city needs more classrooms because of the implementation of the K + 12 program.

"We need more classrooms. At least 400. And we also need additional teachers," Wenceslao said.  (FREEMAN)
