Two men shot dead inside a bamboo hut

CEBU, Philippines - Two men were shot dead early Sunday morning while sleeping inside a small house in Barangay Daanglungsod, Toledo City.

Mark Dalisay, 19, sustained multiple gunshot wounds resulting to his instantaneous death while Jeffrey Omandac, 21, died at Toledo City District Hospital where he was rushed by some neighbors.

Initial police investigation revealed that the victims were just sleeping inside a small bamboo-made house when an unidentified assailant entered and shot them out.

SPO1 Benedicto Bobilles of Toledo Police Station said the motive is still undetermined since no one reported holding grudge against them according to their family.

Dalisay and Omandac were not residents of the of the place but they have been sleeping every night at the house situated in a vacant lot owned by Rosalinda Gabucan.

“Nakihangyo raman ang inahan ni Omandac nga makitulog iyang anak didto kay bakante lage nga lote unya barong-barong ra sab ilang balay,” Bobilles said.

The owner reportedly permitted the victims to stay and sleep every night in the house.

Recovered from the crime scene were 11 pieces of fired cartridge case of .45mm caliber ammos and seven pieces of caliber .45 pistol.

Meanwhile, an Australian medical student sustained a gunshot wound after he was embroiled while watching a fight between two groups of youngsters at the parking area of Mango Square, Cebu City early morning yesterday.

The victim, John Asho, 28, was reportedly just standing while he watched the fight along General Maxilom Avenue.

“Natingala ang biktima nga kalit lang nibunot ang usa sa mga lalaki nga nanag-away unya gipusil siya,” said PO1 Reoful Adalim.

The victim was hit on his right stomach then went through his right forearm.

Adalim said the victim managed to run away from the scene and rushed into a taxicab going to the nearby Chong Hua Hospital to seek immediate treatment.

“Dili man pud siya interesado nga mo-file og kaso kay ang iyang gusto nga makabalik lang sa ilaha (in Sydney, Australia),” Adalim further said. (FREEMAN)
