Uratex gives gifts to Umapad folks

CEBU, Philippines - The country’s first foam manufacturer, Uratex, has extended gift, this time not of good sleep, but of helping hands to some residents in Barangay Umapad in Mandaue City where it is located.

Around 100 families were given a pale of grocery items, five kilos of rice and freebies.

Uratex Visayas-Mindanao General Manager Frederick Sow explained that tickets were given randomly to the needy families including those who were affected by the fire that hit the barangay December last year.

The fire razed 25 houses and displaced 54 families. Damaged of fire was pegged at P300, 000.

Uratex’s gift giving is held annually as celebration of its founder Robert Go Cheng’s birthday.

It was supposedly held last December 28 but moved to January 4 due to the delayed arrival of goods.

“This is thanksgiving and sharing sa mga tao. This is our way of giving back to our community,” Sow said.

Uratex has been manufacturing foams in the country since 1968 and started serving Cebuanos in 2008.— (FREEMAN)
