4,465th aftershock jolts Bohol, Cebu
CEBU, Philippines - The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a magnitude 4.3 aftershock yesterday afternoon - the 4,465th aftershock since the magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck Central Visayas on October 15.
Phivolcs recorded the aftershock at 4:21 p.m. with the source traced 59 kilometers northeast of Tagbilaran City in Bohol. An intensity four aftershock was also recorded in Mandaue City and Cebu City.
Phivolcs said the aftershock had a depth of seven kilometers and was tectonic in origin.
No damage was reported as of yesterday.
The October 15 earthquake had its epicenter in Bohol and left some 300 year-old church buildings and infrastructure in Bohol and Cebu crumbling to the ground. It also killed hundreds and left thousands homeless.
Government has placed estimated the damage at P2.5 billion.
