CEBU, Philippines - Police swooped down on a 57-year-old granny who reportedly sold a pack of shabu to police operatives during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City last Friday night.
The suspect was identified as Narcisa Sullera who claimed to be a street cleaner in the said barangay.
Elements of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (CAIDSOTG) carried out the operation that led to the suspect's arrest outside her house in Guadalajara Street at past 9 p.m.
CAIDSOTG chief Eunil Avergonzado said Sullera's arrest stemmed when she reportedly sold a pack of shabu worth P200 to a policeman who acted as the poseur-buyer.
The buy-bust operation was consummated and the suspect was placed under arrest. She was seized with the shabu pack and the marked money.
As a standard operating procedure, police frisked Sullera and further seized a medium pack and nine smaller packs of the same white powdery substance suspected to be shabu.
The suspect was placed under three-week surveillance before carrying out the operation.
Sullera denied selling drugs saying she was on her way to her daughter's house to bring something for her grandchild.
"Naa rakoy gihatod para sa akong apo, gidiritso man ko nila og dakop," she said.
She further claimed to be a street cleaner of the barangay and that the councilmen know her.
The suspect further told the police that her daughter's boyfriend, who has been jailed in New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City, was a drug pusher who sometimes sends her to an errand.
Avergonzado, however disclosed that Sullera is one of the drug peddlers of a big time drug pusher based in Muntinlupa City.
He said that it is just normal for an arrested person to deny and to discredit arresting officers. (FREEMAN)
