Gillamac sacks Carcar police chief for unsolved crimes

CEBU, Philippines - The chief of Carcar City Police Station was relieved from his post and is facing pre-charged evaluation after he failed from the assessment and performance evaluation conducted by the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO).

Starting today, the chief of the Provincial Operations and Plans Branch (POPB), Chief Insp. Teodulfo Manatad, serves as the officer-in-charge of the Carcar City Police Station following the relief of Supt. Ricky Delilis.

Delilis will then fill in as chief of the POPB replacing Manatad.

Sr. Supt. Noel Gillamac, CPPO director, said that he subjected Delilis to a pre-charged evaluation to determine if he is not being remised in his duties and responsibilities as chief of police (COP).

Delilis was the Carcar City police chief for almost 11 months and the Provincial Investigation Detection and Management Branch has reportedly been monitoring him three months ago.

“Ang Carcar daghan na og panghitabo like hold ups, killings and murder cases left unsolved and I have documents to show and data will not lie unya mas maayo nga ingon anion nato labi na kadtong nag-over staying na,” Gillamac said in a press conference.

He added that his documents showed that Delilis’ performance is wanting from January up to present and such span of time Delilis knows already what he needs to do in terms of crime prevention and solution efficiency.

“And here is another incident involved the killing of a policemen, hurot na akong pasensiya ani,” Gillamac lamented.

Gillamac said that being a COP has big responsibility and one should put his heart and soul into the job not because of the prestige.

He also reminded all COPs that Delilis’ relief would serves as fair warning to others to do their job efficiently and effectively.

But, Delilis clarified for 11 months as COP, they only recorded 10 murder cases however, he would not compare himself to the previous COPs in terms of performance.

“We also have cleared cases naman but if that’s the decision of my superior hindi naman ako pwedeng mag-deviate if he sees that my performance is not enough,” Delilis said in a phone interview.

He added that Carcar City is known in shooting incidents and crimes are part of a growing city with a fast-growing economy. (FREEMAN)
