Japan invites Cebu students for training

CEBU, Philippines - The Saitama Prefectural Government in Japan is inviting students from Cebu to a series of trainings and capability building on  manufacturing and human resource development.

It is a partnership program between the Province of Cebu which aimed at providing education and job opportunities for the constituents of the province.

Representatives from Saitama Prefectural Government headed by Masuda Fumiyuki, associate director of the Department of Public Services, International Division, recently paid a courtesy call on Governor Hilario Davide III for finalizing the partnership.

About 200 students will be selected for a one year internship in Japan. The trainings will focus on three topics such as on the Japanese Manufacturing Philosophy, Environmental Management, and Company Management.

The project will start in the first quarter of 2014 and will continue in the next years to come.

This initiative is funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Saitama Prefectural Government.

The University of San Jose-Recoletos, through the leadership of School of Law Dean, Atty. Jonathan Capanas, and Dr. Virgilio Abellana, Dean of the College of Engineering, together with the Provincial Government of Cebu will help in organizing this initiative.

The undertaking is expected to increase the employment rate of the province of Cebu which will then provide high quality jobs for the professionals and numerous job opportunities for the lay man.

This is a long-term project and has no definite period. It will help pave the way for the relocation and expansion of manufacturing companies in Japan to Cebu.

Davide has assured to give his full support to the project of which Masuda and the delegates are so thankful for the support and acceptance.

Masuda also invited Davide to have a tour in Japan to witness how their manufacturing industry works in February of 2014. (FREEMAN)
