Passing of aid through Bogo center questioned

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Some officials of the fourth district of Cebu questioned why relief assistance from the Capitol should pass through the Bogo City command center that resulted in the loss of some items.

Medellin Mayor Ricardo Ramirez named Capitol chief security officer Anthony Loy Madrigal as behind the move after meeting with Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer acting chief Evelyn Senajon.

“Kato si Evelyn Senajon og ipatawag to ni Gov (Davide) ug pasultihon to sa tinuod anha maklaro ang tanan mao nang di ko mabasol ngano nagduda dayon ko nga politika ang hinungdan,” Ramirez posted on his Facebook.

Ramirez claimed that Senajon admitted to him that all shipments of tents, tarpaulins, relief packs and others would pass through Bogo City command center and that they be escorted by Madrigal to each town.

Senajon confirmed meeting with Ramirez but denied claim that shipments would pass through Bogo command center.

Madrigal also denied the claim of Ramirez, saying that it only happened last Sunday when no one from the police or the Civil Security Unit could escort the delivery for Tabuelan and Medellin.

Madrigal said they let the trucks stay overnight in Bogo for safety and had called on concerned officials to pick up the goods the next day.

Since he has no contact with Ramirez, Madrigal said he was able to contact town Councilor Conrado Mangubat and Tabuelan Mayor Rex Gerona.

“Nganong moreklamo pa man siya nga gikuha naman ang goods sa iyang konsehal kay para ila man gyud na,” Madrigal told The Freeman.

Madrigal also denied report that goods for Borbon, which is part of the fifth district, were also brought in Bogo.

Provincial Board Member Sun Shimura of the fourth district is set to call for investigation into the complaint of Ramirez.

“Aron motuo ko nga way gilabanan si Gov. (Hilario Davide III) aning isyoha human niya maklaro ang tanan, magpaabot ko unsa'y lakang iya buhaton parte aning Madrigal,” Ramirez added.  (FREEMAN)
