CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Commission (CPADAC) has given two months for authorities to submit consolidated drug situation report of the Province of Cebu.
Gov. Hilario Davide III has convened yesterday the CPADAC after he reorganized the body a month ago wherein he appointed Alberto Herrera Jr. as its executive director.
The CPADAC called on the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) to provide the commission with a consolidated situational report on the latest or current situation of drug abuse in the province.
The report will serve as its guide in determining its policies, programs and interventions.
Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) chief, Supt. Rodolfo Albotra Jr. said that the drug situation in the province is not that alarming and activities are confined in big cities.
It includes Toledo City which was earlier declared by Mayor John Henry Osmeña as drug-free.
Albotra said that there are still some personalities who are being monitored in the city and even the local police have made arrests despite the declaration.
He admitted having a drug problem in the province but stressed that it’s not that rampant as they also continue their operations.
The commission also tasked Herrera to make the necessary preparations for the planning workshop to allow members to participate in crafting the program of action that shall serve as its road-map for the ensuing year 2013-2014.—(FREEMAN)
