Blast damages cars

Flor Z. Perolina - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Several cars were damaged when two motorcycle-riding men lobbed a grenade at a car repair shop along Sacris Road Extn. in BarangayTipolo, Mandaue City yesterday dawn.

It was the second attack directed at Brabu Auto Repair Shop after unidentified men also strafed the shop last week.

Shop owner Melecio Anoos, 51, was in his house in Barangay Tabok, Mandaue when the incident happened.

SPO1 Remegio Arciaga,Subangdaku police investigator, said auto shop caretaker Ramil Mamac, 29, was still awake when the men threw the grenade around 1 a.m.

As quoted by Arciaga, Mamac said he and two others saw two men on a motorcycle stop in front of the auto shop and throw something that immediately exploded upon hitting the ground .

Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) personnel were able to recover fragments of the grenade and its safety lever.

The police believe that grudge prompted the throwing of the grenade, suspecting that a customer whom the auto shop has refused to serve recently could be involved in the attack.  (FREEMAN)
