CFI, CTOA give donations to Bohol
CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu CFI Community Cooperative has extended cash and relief assistance to earthquake victims in Bohol despite its branch office in Tagbilaran City was also damaged.
CFI founding chairman, retired judge Esperanza Garcia disclosed that they have already delivered P750,000 worth of assistance as part of their corporate social responsibility.
The Provincial Government of Bohol got P300,000; the City of Tagbilaran got P100,000; and P200,000 for the Diocese of Tagbilaran.
Garcia said that P150,000 worth of goods from the contributions of CFI employees were also sent.
CFI has around 2,000 members in the Province of Bohol. Garcia also reported that their main building at the Capitol Compound was structurally sound as certified by a structural engineer.
Meanwhile, the Cebu Tourism Officers Association (CTOA) is also set to deliver its financial assistance to Bohol amounting to P15,000.
CTOA immediate past president, Trinidad Bubuli of Toledo City, said that the money they have raised was originally intended for the oil spill victims in Cordova town.
Bubuli said that Cordova officials have understood their move knowing the needs in Bohol than in Cordova.
“We’re okay na here in Cordova. Just give the funds to Bohol. They need it more than us. We’ll be happy also to share it to our Bohol brothers,†said Cordova Vice Mayor Mary Therese Sitoy Cho in her post at CTOA Facebook page.
Bubuli said that they are eyeing the town of Maribojoc as the recipient of their assistance. (FREEMAN)
