CEBU, Philippines - As part of Banat News’ 19th Anniversary and The Freeman’s year-long pre-anniversary celebration for its 95th year, The Freeman Foundation extended free medical services to at least 300 beneficiaries yesterday.
The beneficiaries were able to avail of free blood and sugar testing, cholesterol testing, and general check-up. They were also given free medicines, food and even haircut on the side.
The beneficiaries came from Cebu City barangays, including Parian, Sto. Niño, Tejero, Quiot and Carretta. Walk-in patients were also accommodated.
Helping The Freeman Foundation were volunteer doctors from the University of the Visayas (UV) headed by Dr. Remedios Bacasmas who also sits as the foundation coordinator, as well as members of the Naval Forces Central (Navforcen), the foundation’s partner agency.
Among those who benefited from the activity was Vanessa Campugan, 26, a survivor in the recent tragic sea collision involving a passenger vessel and a cargo ship. Campugan who is six months pregnant came with her two kids, both boys ages two and three. Campugan said she is thankful for the services afforded by the foundation and its partners, including the medicines and vitamins she received for her pregnancy. (FREEMAN)
