City dads to undergo workshop

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City executive and legislative officials are attending a two-day workshop starting on Thursday to come up with plans and programs and identify priority projects for the next three years.

Mayor Michael Rama will lead the department heads while Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella will lead the members of the city council in the workshop which will be held at the Montebello Villa Hotel in Barangay Apas.

Local officials are mandated under section 106 of the Local Government Code to prepare a comprehensive multi-sectoral development plan. It shall be initiated by the local development council and shall be approved by the Sanggunian Panlungsod.

The Executive Legislative Agenda (ELA) will outline the direction and the priorities of the local officials within the period corresponding to their term of office. Executive and legislative officials are expected to have an exchange of ideas on what specific projects will be funded through the Annual Investment Plans (AIP) for next year and on the succeeding two years.

The executive department, in the preparation of the Annual Budget, shall select what specific projects will be prioritized in the implementation. — (FREEMAN)
