CEBU, Philippines - The Metro Cebu Development and Coordinating Board (MCDCB) have set September as Mega Cebu Month.
The institution of Mega Cebu Month forms part of the strategic communication plan for this year in recognition and celebration of each of the 13 local government units’ competitive advantages and collective strengths.
Carol Ballesteros, the communication and stakeholders’ relationship manager for Mega Cebu, in a press briefing, yesterday expressed that the month-long celebration could increase awareness of the mega vision for Cebu.
The activities will kick off on September 2 at the Capitol Social Hall.
The 13 LGUs are grouped into four clusters where activities will be focused for each week.
The first week is for the southern cluster composed of Talisay City, Minglanilla, Naga City, San Fernando and Carcar City.
The second week is for northern cluster composed of Mandaue City, Consolacion, Lilo-an, Compostela and Danao City.
The third week is for the Mactan cluster composed of Lapu-Lapu City and Cordova while the last week of September is for Cebu City.
Ballesteros said that different activities are already lined up for LGUs and private sectors and the Search for Mega Cebu Ambassador will highlight the culmination on September 27 at the Cebu International Convention Center.
The MCDCB launched last March the “Mega Cebu Vision 2050†with the catch phrase “Mega Cebu: Making W.A.V.E.S.†(Wholesome, Advanced, Vibrant, Equitable, and Sustainable).
Mega Cebu Vision 2050 is an urban development vision and cooperation among the seven cities and six towns that comprise the Metropolitan Cebu that show heavy concentration of development, urbanization and economic growth.
The MCDCB is a consortium of the Province of Cebu, 13 cities and municipalities, regional line agencies, private and civil society organizations.
The Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) facilitates the Mega Cebu program. It anchors the Research, Program and Organizational Development (RPOD) of the MCDCB.
RAFI also serves as coordinating and operations unit and process facilitator of the various functions, structures, plans, programs, and efforts of the MCDCB. (FREEMAN)
