Labuyo to bring rains in Cebu

CEBU, Philippines - Metro Cebu will experience light to moderate rains even until tomorrow as tropical storm “Labuyo” continues to bring rains all over the country.

Weather specialist Del Fernando of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA)-Mactan said that this prevailing weather condition will continue until the next day.

According to PAGASA’s 24-hour Public Weather Forecast issued at 5 p.m. yesterday and valid until 5 p.m. today, Labuyo was spotted at 130 km north of Virac, Catanduanes or 220 km southeast of Casiguran, Aurora.

Labuyo, the 12th weather disturbance to enter the country’s area of responsibility this year, is expected to be out by Tuesday afternoon.

PAGASA’s extended weather forecast added that Metro Cebu will continue to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms until August 15, 2013.

Oscar Tabada, weather chief of PAGASA-Mactan, during the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Summit held in Cebu last week, said that at least nine to ten more tropical cyclones are expected to hit the country this year.

PAGASA said that coastal waters in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will be moderate to rough. — (FREEMAN)
