Woman killed in Toledo

Ria Mae Y. Booc - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A 30-year-old woman was killed by an unidentified person inside her house yesterday morning in Barangay Magdugo, Toledo City.

Police remain clueless on the identity of the person who killed Analiza Baclaan, a native of Tagbilaran City, Bohol. Only her three-year-old daughter was around when the incident happened.

Baclaan had a hack wound in the forehead which caused her death. She was no longer taken to the hospital.

At around 7:30a.m. Linda Baclaan, the victim’s sister-in-law, saw the victim’s daughter walking all alone outside the house. This prompted Linda to ask for the whereabouts of the mother.

“Iyang gipangutana ang bata pero wala nitubag hadlok lang kaayo. (She asked the child who did not answer and was very scared),” SPO3 Henry Acosta, investigator, said.

He added that Linda immediately barged into the house and saw Baclaan in a pool of blood.

Baclaan was living with her daughter and husband at the house but the husband was working in Cebu City at that time.

Acosta told The FREEMAN that based on their investigation, the assailant had a grudge against Baclaan and there was intent to kill her.

“Gipatay gyud ni kay base sa samad dunay hatred ang gapatay. (She was really murdered because based on the wound, there was hatred on the part of the killer),” he said.

Police said the victim was not robbed nor was she raped but was killed because of personal grudge.

Acosta further said that there was struggle before Baclaan was strangled and struck with a bladed weapon.

The body will be subjected to an autopsy.

The girl will be taken to the Department of Social Welfare and Development for stress debriefing.

Police are now looking into the case and tracking a person whose identity they refused to disclose. (FREEMAN)
