UV launches CSR project in Kamagayan

CEBU, Philippines - The University of the Visayas will launch today its corporate social responsibility project dubbed as “Green and White Tabang sa Silingan Program,” which will benefit Barangay Kamagayan residents.

“This project is in line with the principle of helping one’s neighbor. So, the university will help our neighbor, Barangay Kamagayan,” said UV Executive Vice President Jose “Dodong” R. Gullas.

University officials will sign today a memorandum of agreement with the officials of Barangay Kamagayan for the implementation of different projects in line with health and sanitation, education, livelihood, anti-drugs, and environment issues. The program, which will initially run for two years, will be implemented by the different colleges and departments of UV.

A total of 50 families will benefit from year-long activities such as feeding for children, parenting lectures, education for pre-school-aged children of beneficiaries as well as out-of-school youths, drug education, HIV and health education, livelihood and construction of clean toilets for beneficiaries. There will also be Masses every Sunday at 11 a.m. for the duration of the program. (PR)(FREEMAN)
