CH to bring potable water to mountain barangays
CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City’s mountain barangays will soon have potable water supply.
Bringing potable water supply to the city’s mountain barangays is one of Mayor Michael Rama’s priority projects as part of the ‘City Hall at Your Doorstep’ Program.
Some of the barangays expected to benefit from this project are barangays Mabini, Budlaan, Bacayan, Adlaon, Guba, Binaliw, Lusaran, Paril, Agsungot, Pulangbato, Cambinocot and San Jose.
City Administrator Jose Poblete said the water supply will be primarily used for irrigation.
They will tap the Metropolitan Cebu Water District and some of the city-initiated water sources, including deep wells and shallow well pumps within the City.
A water tanker will visit the upland barangays and provide the needed water supply.
“Kung naay lugar nga naa’y need or kung wala’y well nga established amo na adtuon,(If there is a place that needs water or if they don’t have an established well, we will visit it)†Poblete said.
Poblete said a formal request from the barangays is needed, “Para makahibalo ta nga wala diay sila’y tubig or wala’y pressure ilang linya. (So that we would know that they don’t have water supply or pressure in their water line.)â€
He explained that the request would not be a problem for the barangays since the City Hall is always open to barangay officials especially the barangay captains.
Aside from the mountain barangays, they are also eyeing areas which were affected by big fires such as those which occurred in barangays Ermita and Duljo-Fatima.
“Bottomline is, usa ni sa batakan nga serbisyo nga atubangon sa Mayor with vigor, (…this is one basic service that the Mayor will face with vigor.)†says Poblete. (FREEMAN)
