Rama admits talks with Gov. Davide

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama has admitted meeting Governor Hilario “Junjun” Davide, III before the latter’s assumption into office.

“It was a day or two before the oathtaking. Generally, we talked about how we are friends, how much we love Cebu,” Rama told reporters.

The mayor earlier expressed interest in meeting provincial government counterparts to discuss common concerns of the two local government units.

But he refused to divulge if he and Davide spoke about issues like 93-1 as well as ownership woes of Fuente Osmeña Circle and the Cebu City Zoo lot.

“I will not expand on that part of the discussion,” he added.

After the initial meeting, Rama said there is another one coming together with Vice Governor Agnes Magpale and Vice Mayor Edgar Labella.

“Our next meeting will be with Magpale and Edgar. If not this week, it will be this month,” Rama said.

He emphasized that both the city and the province are in one island and that both must work together to keep and surpass the good image that Cebu is enjoying.— (FREEMAN)
