CEBU, Philippines - A father and his four children were injured after the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a bus early morning yesterday in Barangay Bagakay, Sibonga.
Julito Batol, 41, construction worker and resident of the said barangay and his sons, Joshua, 11, Justine, 10, James, 9 and Mark, 8 suffered injuries in different parts of their bodies.
PO3 Ederlino Bacusmo of Sibonga police said Julito was bringing his sons to Simala Elementary School when he crossed an intersection.
Julito did not notice the speeding Ceres bus driven by Raul Abera, 48, of Osamiz City, which was bound for Bato, Samboan, Cebu.
Victims were thrown off the road, about eight meters away from the point of impact.
Bacusmo said also said Julito and his children were not wearing helmet.
They were taken to the Deiparine Medical Clinic for treatment.
Police impounded the motorcycle and the bus but both parties agreed to settle the matter amicably settle after Abera promised to shoulder all the medical expenses of the victims.
Meanwhile, last Wednesday, a ten-wheeler cargo truck carrying construction materials plunged into a creek and fell on its side in Barangay Tan-awan, Oslob.
Driver, Esler Arong, 30, and the truck boy, Romulo Lagare, 41, both of La Libertad, Negros Oriental, suffered injuries and were rushed to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for treatment.
Arong reportedly lost control of the steering wheel causing the truck to swerve right. Due to the heavy load, the truck fell. (FREEMAN)
