CEBU, Philippines - A shoe repairman was shot dead by an unidentified man past 2 p.m. Saturday at his workplace in Barangay South Poblacion, San Fernando town.
Antonio Enad Taper, 57, of Barangay Basak, succumbed to two gunshot wounds in the head. He was rushed to Carcar Provincial Hospital but was declared dead by the attending physician a few hours later.
Sr. Insp. Gerard Pelare, San Fernando police chief, said Taper was attending to his work when the gunman appeared and shot him using an unknown handgun.
So far, nobody can describe the assailant as the incident happened so quickly.
Police are now pursuing love triangle as possible motive because Taper’s live-in partner is reportedly married to another man.
However, the live-in partner and her husband got separated in 2007 and already has another family.
Taper and his live-in partner have a child.
Another possible motive, Pelare said, could be personal grudge because Taper reportedly poked a handgun at somebody during last election.
Pelare said Taper was not involved in any illegal activity and they have talked to his live-in partner to check the background of her husband who is from Danao City.
PO3 Edgar Mantalaba, who is investigating the case, said the live-in partner told them Taper has not mentioned that he has enemies or even threats. — (FREEMAN)
