CEBU, Philippines - A 21-year old tourist from Manila threatens to file a criminal complaint for alleged harassment against a massage therapist.
Ana, not her real name, from Lucena City reported to the Mabolo Police Station the alleged harassment she experienced in the hands of a male therapist at a massage parlor in Cebu City. The complainant, assisted by lawyer Aaron Pedrosa, narrated that she went the massage parlor at the IT Park last May 27 supposedly to have a full body massage.
But since there was no female therapist available, she opted to avail of the foot relax service instead. Ana and her friend were led to the reclining chairs where the foot massage is to be done.
Ana said that the male therapist, name withheld by The FREEMAN, asked her if she wants a back massage which she agreed. She was then led to the private massage rooms. She was then given a towel and was told to take off her shirt and upper undergarment for the back massage. Ana said she did so, kept her lower undergarments and laid facing down on the massage bed. The therapist then massaged her using oil to which she also agreed.
After the back part, Ana was asked to lie on her back so he can massage the front part of her legs. She did so, carefully covering her chest and abdomen.
In her affidavit, Ana said she started to get scared when the therapist's hands allegedly touched her private part. Ana said she was not able to scream for help since she feared what the therapist would do to her.
Ana said they reported the incident to Mabolo Police Station 4.However, some policemen were reportedly making fun of her. Ana also intends to file administrative complaints against the policemen.
The manager of the massage parlor, who requested anonymity, said that they have already suspended the services of the therapist. The management also assured that this was not a practice in their parlor and that they have maintained very good service proven by the good feedback by their customers. The manager said that they do not know what really transpired but would respect the decision of the court if cases are filed. — (FREEMAN)
